Johnny Cash<\/em><\/strong>, <\/em>Luther Perkins<\/em><\/strong>, and <\/em>Marshall Grant<\/em><\/strong> would forever be known as <\/em>Johnny Cash & The Tennessee Two<\/em><\/strong> after recording at <\/em>Sun Studio<\/em><\/strong> in Memphis Tennessee with producer <\/em>Sam Phillips<\/em><\/strong> in 1954. This same band would still be together by the time of Cash\u2019s famous live concert recorded at <\/em>Folsom State Prison<\/em><\/strong> in 1968. However, by this time, the Johnny Cash show included future wife June Carter on lead vocals, Carl Perkins on guitar and vocals, Tennessee Three member W.S. Holland on drums, and the Statler Brothers on backing vocals.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe Old Perfesser\u201d<\/em><\/strong> introduced himself to <\/em>Alex Battles<\/em><\/strong> at the <\/em>CasHank Hootenanny Jamboree<\/em><\/strong> with \u201cI know all that Luther Perkins stuff.\u201d Together they have collaborated on <\/em>The Johnny Cash Birthday Bash<\/em><\/strong> for over a decade. This year\u2019s show will focus on the music of Cash\u2019s childhood, <\/em>Sun Records<\/em><\/strong> singles, and prison performances. Special guest <\/em>Linda Hill<\/em><\/strong><\/a> will join <\/em>The Whisky Rebellion<\/em><\/strong> to electrify the crowd with the iconic <\/em>June Carter<\/em><\/strong> duets. The Whisky Rebellion also features <\/em>Sammo<\/em><\/strong><\/a> on guitar and vocals, <\/em>Tina Lama<\/em><\/strong><\/a> on bass, and <\/em>Smilin\u2019 Charlie Shaw<\/em><\/strong> on drums. <\/em>DJ General Buell<\/em><\/strong> spins classic tunes before and after the show. The music of the <\/em>Man in Black<\/em><\/strong> will ring out all night long.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n
